What is forensics? Forensics is competitive speech and acting.

Forensics is usually a two day tournament.

On the first day of the tournament you have three different events which are:

Lincoln Douglas Debate – which is a philosophical debate with one person on each team,

Public Forum Debate – a debate about the morals of the topic with two people on each team,

And Student Congress – which is a high school version of actual congress.

Then on the second day you have the speech and acting events.

The speech events are:

Informative – An informational speech about a topic of your choice

Oration – A persuasive speech about a topic of your choice

Domestic Extemp – Which is a speech given about an issue in the United States.

Foreign Extemp – Which is a speech given about an issue in the other countries in the world.

And Impromptu – Is speech on a given topic where you have 5 minutes to prepare it and 5 minutes to give the speech.

The acting events are:

Poetry – A selection of multiple poetry pieces

Prose – A short story that is read
