New class on officiating to be taught at Heights

K.C. Pham, Reporter

Next year, the PE and athletic department is offering a new elective on officiating. This class would be taught by Dominick Dingle, the football coach with assistance from Michael Church, the athletic director. To take this class, students need teacher approval.

Football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and field, wrestling, baseball, and softball are all the sports that will be covered during this course. By taking this class, students can earn their restrictive KSHSAA certification that allows them to be an official for middle school, non-varsity, and YMCA games and make money doing so. Being an athlete isn’t required to take this class and students would have to pass unit tests.

It is a one year, non-repeatable class course. The class is available for all grade levels.
